WASHINGTON, Oct. 30 -- After Golden State Warriors All-Star Klay Thompson set new NBA record by knocking down 14 3-pointers in game against the Chicago Bulls on Monday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said it's special for the whole team coming together to help Thompson set the new mark.
Thompson broke teammate Stephen Curry's NBA record for 3-pointers in a game in just 27 minutes in the game. He went 14-for-24 from beyond the arc and scored 52 points. But the star struggled to start the season, belting just 5 for 36 from long range through Warriors' first seven games.
"I didn't even realize what was happening, record-wise, until they called a timeout," Kerr said. "He had made a couple in the second half, and I heard Klay say, 'Two more! Two more!' And that's when I realized the record. And I didn't even know who had the record, and so I asked Curry, 'Do you have the record?' He goes, 'Yeah.' At that point, the guys were just feeding him every time."
"I think that's how much they care about Klay and felt for him because he's had a rough start to the season," the coach added.
