LONDON, Sept. 15 -- Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League after the fifth round of matches in England this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp's men claimed their 13th consecutive league win as they bounced back from conceding an early goal against Newcastle United to claim a 3-1 triumph thanks to two goals from Sadio Mane and another from Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool kicked off the day and their fans will have enjoyed watching Manchester City's woes as the reigning Champions fell to a surprise 3-2 defeat away to Norwich City.

Guardiola was forced to defend his players as Nicolas Otamendi's defensive lapse highlighted just how much Aymeric Laporte will be missed as he starts his recovery from a knee injury.

City struggled at the back against a side that has already shown it can score goals and Teemu Pukki was again on the score-sheet for Norwich, although it was Kenny McClean and Todd Cantwell who give the recently promoted side a 2-0 lead before Sergio Aguero got City back into the game.

Guardiola's men were pressing for an equalizer when Pukki netted a third and although Rodri Hernandez scored an 88th minute goal for the visitors, Norwich held on for a famous win.

Harry Kane didn't score in Tottenham's 4-0 win at home to Crystal Palace, but Hueng Min Son fired home twice, while an own goal and a 42nd minute effort for Erik Lamela meant it was game over before halftime at White Hart Lane.
