BEIJING, April 3, -- Ronnie O'Sullivan said early good bye to Beijing in a quite stylish way by losing 6-2 to Elliot Slessor after making maximum break in the first round of Fuhua World Snooker China Open here on Tuesday.
It wasn't the first time Slessor enjoyed victory over the Rocket, but this time it seemed easier as he established an early lead of 4-0 before the interval.
After the break, the world No. 2 soon made a perfect clearance on the table. The Chinese audiences stood up and cheered for the 147 they witnessed.
However, the maximum break didn't change the result of the match as O'Sullivan still lost by 6-2 at last.
This 147 is the 14th of his career. If no one would equal his record this week, O'Sullivan will receive 35,000 pound bonus from the rolling prize pot for 147s, and the 7,000 pound high break prize.
"It was nice for me, nice for the fans. At least it hasn't been a complete waste of time you know." said O'Sullivan, when asked how would he use the prize money, he joked with the journalists in the room. "I will take you right for drink tonight, how is that? I will buy all the drink, all right? Green tea ... some champagne, everybody."
"I love China, it's my favorite place in the world so I will spend a few days here, meet some friends, going some nice food, watching a bit of snooker," He added that he may stay longer "if you make me some China citizenship ... give me a Chinese name as well."
