BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 18 -- Austrian top-seed Dominic Thiem won his second Argentina Open title in three years by breezing past Slovenia's Alijaz Bedene 6-2, 6-4 on Sunday.
The 24-year-old needed just one hour and 30 minutes to secure his ninth career title and first in almost a year.
"When you win a tournament it's good news, because we're used to losing more than winning," Thiem said.
"With these conditions-slow and hot-there are many chances for me to play well. It was my goal before starting the week and it is incredible to have achieved it."
Thiem did not drop a set in the clay court event at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club and now holds a 3-0 head-to-head record against Bedene.
The world No. 6 also won the ATP World Tour 250 series event in Argentina's capital in 2016 when he beat Spain's Nicolas Almagro in three sets.
Earlier, Argentine pair Andres Molteni and Horacio Zeballos beat Colombian top seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 6-3, 5-7, 10-3 to take the doubles title.
