MADRID, Sept. 20 -- Karim Benzema became the latest Real Madrid player to sign a contract extension when the club confirmed on Wednesday he has put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him at the club until the end of 2021.
The striker's previous deal had been due to expire in June 2019 and the two-year extension maintains a buyout clause of 1,000 million euros.
The 29-year-old will now remain at the club until he is 33-years old and follows other Madrid players who have signed new deals in the past few days. Left back Marcelo, midfielder Isco and right back Dani Carvajal all tying their futures to the club until 2022.
Benzema will not play against Betis on Wednesday night as the result of a knee injury, which will sideline him for another couple of weeks.
