CAIRO, Oct. 3 -- The presidents of International Handball Federation (IHF) and Egyptian Handball Federation (EHF) signed on Thursday in Giza near the capital Cairo the official document of Egypt's hosting of the 2021 World Men's Handball Championship.
The document was signed by IHF president Hassan Mostafa and EHF chief Hesham Nasr, in a ceremony attended by Egypt's Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy and head of African Handball Confederation Mansourou Aremou.
It will be the second time for Egypt to host the big event after it hosted it once in 1999.
"The participation of 32 teams instead of 24 for the first time in the 2021 world handball championship is a clear challenge," the Egyptian sports minister told reporters.
Sobhy added that Egypt will work hard to make the tournament a success "to reflect Egypt's ability to organize and host international events and championships."
The minister pointed out that Egypt will finish soon the establishment of an indoor handball court at the new administrative capital city eastern Cairo as one of the venues of the championship.
Egypt won the bid to host the championship in November 2017 after a fierce competition with Hungary.
