BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 1 -- Former Chile and Argentina assistant manager Sebastian Beccacece has vowed to put his "heart and soul" into his new role as head coach of reigning Argentinian champions Racing Club.
The 39-year-old this week replaced Eduardo Coudet, who parted ways with the club in December to take charge of Brazil's Internacional.
"Our aim will be to fight for everything that is within our reach and I'll be putting my heart and soul into it," the 39-year-old said upon his official unveiling to the media.
Racing are currently eighth in the 24-team Argentinian Superliga, which is in the midst of a summer recess.
Beccacece has been out of work since being sacked by Independiente in October. His first competitive match in charge of Racing will be a home clash against Atletico Tucuman on January 26.
While praising Racing's squad, Beccacece admitted he would seek to sign several new players in the coming weeks.
"I have a very good squad with a nice average age of 28," he said. "We want to incorporate some players from outside, but that is something that the [club's] hierarchy will take care of.
"The idea is to have a high level of intensity and be aggressive when in possession, regardless of the opponent. They are qualities that the team has lost in recent times."
