Former Dalian striker Hao Haidong agreed, saying that Yu's misdemeanor was not serious enough to warrant his sacking.
Shi Xueqing, a former executive at Dalian, said he was shocked at Yu's treatment by Evergrande, and called for the establishment of an organization to protect the interests of Chinese footballers.
"In order to promote the professionalization of Chinese football and safeguard the interests of the players, it is time for us to set up an organization like that," he said.
