GENEVA, June 13 -- FIBA's Executive Committee convened on Friday through a video conference, setting new dates for both men's and women's Under-19 Basketball World Cup 2021.
FIBA President Hamane Niang commenced the meeting with an open letter calling on global basketball community to be part of the change in society.
The Executive Committee confirmed that both FIBA U-17 Basketball World Cups 2020 cannot take place this year following a thorough analysis. It will examine the possibility to play the events in 2021. A FIBA U-17 Skills Challenge will be organized in August, seeing the number of participating teams increased from 16 to 20.
New dates have been confirmed for both men's and women's FIBA U-19 Basketball World Cup 2021. Men's competition is set to take place from July 3 to 11, 2021, while women's matches will be staged from August 7 to 15, 2021.
The Executive Committee has also approved a plan to promote the resumption of 3x3 activity.
