TBILISI, May 9 -- Only four out of the top 12 seeds at the ongoing 2011 European Individual Women Chess Championship on Monday kept their winning streak intact by taking their respective third-round games.
Top-seeded Nadezhda Kosintseva from Russia beat Ketevan Arakhamia-Grant of Scotland for a maximum three points from as many games. The older of the Russian Kosintseva sisters entered the Tbilisi tournament with a 2005 European championship silver and a 2007 bronze.
Following her suit for maximum points were seventh-seeded Elina Danielian from Armenia who defeated hosts Georgia's Nino Khurtsidze.
Lithuania's Viktorija Cmilyte and Georgia's Bela Khotenashvili also took their third games by outwitting Nazi Paikidze of Georgia and Marina Romanko of Russia respectively.
The Lithuanian player entered the current tournament with three European championship runner-up titles from 2003, 2008 and last year.
Twice and defending champion Pia Cramling from Sweden had to settle for a draw on Monday with Italy's Elena Sedina for 2.5 out of the maximum three points available so far.
11 rounds of games are arranged for this year's European championship which is played out as a Swiss-system tournament.
