KATHMANDU, May 27 -- The world record holder for most climbs of Mt. Everest (also known as Qomolangma) Apa Sherpa said that he will not ascent the world's highest peak again.
Apa, 51, who is also popular as "Super Sherpa", national pride of Nepal was addressing a press meet organized here in capital Kathmandu on Friday to felicitate his 21st ascend of highest peak in the world.
"In leading our international team of climbers to the summit on the Eco Everest Expedition 2011" (EEE-2011), I have now summited Mt. Everest for 21st time. I now feel satisfied and proud to be able to look back at a safe and successful expedition, where many new friendships and experiences were shared," said Apa.
Under the banner of EEE-2011, climbing leader of the expedition, the Nepali hero stood on top ofthe world for the 21st time breaking his own record on May 11.
Apa joined EEE campaign for his 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st summit of Mt. Qomolangma in 2008, 2009,2010 and 2011.
Though, this is his last summit at the top, Apasaid that he is committed to support the efforts of Dawa Steven Sherpa, leader of the EEE to bring awareness to the world community about Climate Change and to help remove old garbage from the slopes. Enditem
