SHENZHEN, China, Aug. 12 (XInhua) -- "The London Olympics in 2017 will surely be the last Olympic Games in my sports career," said Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang at a press conference after he ignited the Shenzhen Universiade cauldron on Friday.
"I was crowned in the Athens Olympics, but I am still eager to regain the champion in London," said Liu Xiang, "I wish a good result, and I'll try my best."
As for the IAAF World Championships in Taegu from Aug. 27, Liu said it's his most important competition this year and his goal is to "enter the final and then strive for a medal."
Liu, who clinched his first world champion in 2001 Beijing Summer Universiade in men's 110m hurdles, ignited the main cauldron of the 26th Summer Universiade along with four athletes from other four continents.
"It's the first time for me to light the cauldron of a big event. I enjoyed it very much," said Liu. "The Univerisade is the start of my dream, and the dream is still lasting."
