　　late可做形容词或副词，意为“晚的、迟的;lately为副词，意为“近来，最近，与recently同义。later除了可以作为late的比较级以外，还可单独作为副词使用，意为“后来，以后;latter是形容词，意思是“后者的，后一半的;也常和former一起构成名词性替代词，如“the former…the latter “例如：
