同与异

当所述条件会结束已经存在的想法或状态时，用或都可以。如：

We shall go unless it rains tomorrow. =We shall go if it doesn’t rain tomorrow. 如果明天不下雨，我们就去。(“下雨”会结束“去”这一已经存在的趋向)

You will be late unless you start at once. =You’ll be late if you don’t start at once. 如果不马上走你就要迟到。(“马上走”会结束“迟到”这一趋向) http://yingyu.chazidian.com

当所述条件会导致一种新的想法或情况时，通常用if…，而不用unless。如：

I’ll be angry if I’m not invited to the party. 如果不邀请我参加聚会我会生气的。(“不邀请”就会导致“生气”这种新情况)

表示虚拟条件只能用if…not，不用unless。如：

He would have died if the doctor had not saved him in time. 要是医生不及时救了他，他早就死了。

若需定再与否定连用，用unless，不用if…not。如(http://yingyu.chazidian.com)：

译：如果没有别的人去，我就去。

正：I will go unless no one else does.

误：I will go if no one else doesn’t.
