Soccer superstar David Beckham has left Turku, Finland for Los Angeles on Wednesday after a successful surgery to re-attach his Achilles tendon.
Beckham left Turku around 2:30 p.m local time by private plane with his wife Victoria Beckham on Wednesday, who arrived in Finland's southwest city Tuesday afternoon to be with husband.
Beckham underwent Achilles surgery there on Monday. They are flying home in Los Angeles via London.
Surgeon Sakari Orava told media that Beckham's bandage had been changed on Wednesday morning, adding the wound was clean and everything was as it should be.
Beckham was hurt in AC Milan's 1-0 Series A win over Chive at the San Sire on Sunday evening and flew to Finland for treatment on Monday.
Orava said on Monday evening after the surgery that Beckham's left Achilles tendon was totally torn, ruling out his possibility to be playing in the South African World Cup matches beginning in mid-June.
According to Orava, the football star's leg will be in a cast for two months and it will be three to six months before the ankle is in the sort of condition that will allow for running.
Some British media had earlier estimated that the injury could mean an end to Beckham's athletic career.
Orava said to Finnish Broadcasting Company in an interview on Wednesday morning that it highly depends on Beckham's own motivation whether he could fully recover and continue his career.
