Jamaican sprint king Usain Bolt beat compatriot Asafa Powell to claim title in the 100m at the Diamond League meeting on Friday.
The 23-year-old Olympic and World champion only made his comeback from an achilles tendon problem last week. The in-form Powell started well and led over Bolt for most part of the dash, but Bolt's sprint was powerful enough to allow the 100, 200 and 4X100 meters world record holder to seize the lead in the last 20 meters and hit the line first.
Bolt clocked 9.84 seconds, a new meet record, to claim the title. Powell finished second in 9.91, while another Jamaican sprinter, Yohan Blake, was third in 9.95 to manage a podium sweep for their country.
"It wasn't the best race I've ever had in my life. My first part was awful. At the 50 meters, I thought he (Powell) had me. I had to work a little bit harder to get back in the race," said Bolt after the race, who is now enjoying a 14 unbeaten surge in 100m arena.
