　　What he told me yesterday is of great importance.昨天他告诉我的事情非常重要。(主语从句，what相当于the thing that)

　　That’s just what I want to say.

　　那正是我想说的。(表语从句，what相当于the thing that)

　　I have no idea what has happened to him.我不知道他出了什么事。(同位语从句，what保留原有的疑问含义)

　　It is unknown what he will talk about at the meeting.会上他会讲什么还不明确。(主语从句，what保留原有的疑问含义)

　　5．Whatever the reason，research shows that in the end，the English saying，“Laughter is the best medicine”，may be true after all.不管什么原因，研究表明，那句英语格言“笑是灵丹妙药”终究可能是真的。

　　句中whatever the reason为让步状语从句whatever the reason may/might be的省略形式，因为句意比较明确，所以may/might be省去了；whatever可用no matter what替换。如：

　　Whatever(＝No matter what)happens，we shall never lose hope.无论发生什么事，我们都不会失去希望。

　　Whatever the weather(may be)，I will go to see him tomorrow.

　　无论天气如何，我明天都会去看他。
