过去分词短语作定语，和被修饰的词之间往往是被动关系，并且表示动作已经完成。单个的过去分词作定语常放在被修饰的词前面；过去分词短语作定语则放在被修饰的词后面。

　　那时，这样的事情是一个被禁止谈论的话题。

　　(2)The broken glass is Tom’s.

　　这个被打坏的杯子是汤姆的。

　　(3)I borrowed a book written by Mark Twain from the library.

　　我从图书馆借了一本马克·吐温写的书。
