　　at the mercy of任凭……的摆布，完全受……的支配

　　have mercy on/ upon对……有怜悯心

　　show mercy to sb.对某人表示宽容

　　with/without mercy仁慈地/残忍地

　　①Francis thought it was not proper for a basketball player to show mercy to his competitors.

　　弗朗西斯认为篮球队员同情其对手是不合适的。

　　②On the contrary, the crisis struck China without mercy and did harm to its still developing economy.
