ACCRA, June 6 -- Hundreds of Ghanaians thronged the International Conference Center Wednesday in the capital city Accra to watch the much-publicized investigative report on alleged fraudulent activities that have characterized Ghana football.
The video, which is a product of Anas Aremeyaw Anas, an award-winning investigative journalist, centers mainly on alleged malpractices that have characterized football administration in the country.
About 77 referees are said to have been captured in the video allegedly negotiating to compromise football matches.
Some top football officials were also seen in the video trying to undermine some league matches through the payment of bribes.
The video also exposes top football administrators in Africa, who have been undermining the game on the continent.
Some members of the public who watched the first screening were livid while others were shocked, with some calling for dissolution of the football association.
"I am sad for the country's football, after watching the video. I now know why the quality of our football has been declining over the past few years," Seth Gyamfi, a football fan, said.
"I think that we should dissolve the FA, discontinue with the premier league and start afresh. We have to start all over again," said Philip Korang.
Already, the Ghana Football Association chief Kwasi Nyantakyi is facing charges for allegedly using the name of Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo in the investigative report.
