According to the latest Cancer Research study, the chances of developing the disease rises by 16 per cent for every 4in in height.

Professor Karol Sikora, medical director of Cancer Partners UK, believes this could be due to high levels of growth hormones in taller women. These stimulate body growth, particularly during childhood and adolescence.

A study by Oxford University found women with higher levels of these hormones were 28 per cent more likely to develop oestrogen-dependent breast cancer.

Tall women are at an increased risk of skin cancer according to the latest study by Cancer Research, which found the risk increased by 32 per cent for each 4in rise in height over 5ft 1in. As with breast cancer, hormones related to growth spurts and height may play a part.

据癌症研究中心的报告称，高个子的女性有更高的可能性罹患皮肤癌的，身高在5英尺1英寸之上时，每4英寸的高度将增加癌症出现的提高了百分之三十二，这个与刺激身高的荷尔蒙激素有关。
