A: Would you like to go to see a movie tomorrow night?
B: I am afraid. I have to clean my bedroom.
同样地,“be afraid(that)...”表示恐怕,后面可接上句子,如:I'm afraid I can't.一句在口语运用中省掉了“that”表示为恐怕不行;
be afraid of (doing) something 担心做某事,如:she was afraid of dancing with strangers.(她害怕和陌生人跳舞。)
be afraid to do something They are afraid to tell me the truth.(他们不敢告诉我真相。)
Be afraid还常用于答语中,如:I am afraid so.
2. Sorry, I'm tied up.
I'm busy in doing something"。
A: Can you come to my birthday party on Friday?
B: I'm Sorry, I'm tied up this weekend.
I'll be filled up this week.(这星期我没空。)
其中短语be filled up表示被填满;
Sorry, I have plans.
