One very brave Sydney lawyer has broken a world record by running a marathon in a three-piece suit.
Matthew Whitaker, 25, entered the Sydney Running Festival on Sunday with the aim of taking home a grander prize than just a fast time - which for him was an incredible two hours, 44 minutes and 29 seconds and a Guinness World Record.
In a tremendous feat the North Bondi local donned a woollen suit and tie one size larger than his actual size and set about running 42 kilometres in it.
'The first half was fine, but the last 15-20 kilometres were really, really horrible,' Mr Whitaker told the Sydney Morning Herald.
'It got really heavy and restrictive and slowed me down a fair bit.'
The lawyer had spent time training in the suit, running around Sydney's iconic Centennial Parklands and Bondi beach, but nothing could have prepared him for the grueling stint in sunny Spring weather.
