美国习惯用语-第106讲:to grab a bite

例句-3: "My husband and I have worked hard to make our new restaurant a success, but most of all I thank my father for giving us the grubstake to open it."

这个人说："我和我的丈夫花了很大力量才使我们新开的饭馆很成功。不过，我更感谢我爸爸为我们提供了开这个饭馆的资金。"

有这样一个爸爸是很幸运的。下面这个人就没有这种运气，他说：

例句-4: "I want to quit my job and open a sporting goods shop for myself. But I\'m having trouble finding anybody to put up a grubstake to help me get started."

这个人说："我想辞了我那个工作，自己开一个体育用品店。但是，我找不到人给我一笔贷款来开这个店。"

我们今天讲了两个美国人常用的俗语。第一个是to grab a bite。To grab a bite意思是由于没有时间吃饭或其他原因在饭前先吃点东西填补一下。我们今天讲的第二个俗语是grubstake。Grubstake是为开创一个企业提供的资金或贷款。
