German football powerhouse Bayern Munich have sealed the tranfer of Croatian star Danijel Pranjic, it was revealed on Monday. The Bayern club announced on Monday that they have agreed a fee with Netherlands top flight outfit SC Heerenveen for Pranjic.
"Pranjic is a very versatile player, and was one of the names at the top of our new coach Louis van Gaal's wish list," commented Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The left-sided midfielder will sign on in Munich within the next few days, on a contract through to June 30th 2012. Both clubs have agreed not to go public over the transfer fee.
Bayern agreed terms with Pranjic himself in early June. The Croatian international brings to the German record champions both offensive and defensive quality down the left flank.
Pranjic joined Heerenveen from Dinamo Zagreb in summer 2005. Last season, when he mainly appeared on the left side of midfield, he scored 16 goals in 30 appearances, and also provided seven assists. He also won the Dutch Cup with the side who finished fifth in the Eredivisie last term.
The 27-year-old made his Croatia debut in 2004 and has earned 22 caps to date. Pranjic came to the notice of scouts at some of Europe's top clubs as one of the stand-out performers for Croatia at Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.
At the tournament, he laid on the opening goal in the Croats' 2-1 group stage victory over Germany.
