Australian golfer Geoff Ogilvy on Sunday won his first victory in the Australian Open at The Lake in Sydney.
The 2006 U.S. Open champion shot a three-under-par 69 to finish the championship at 19-under 269, four shots clear of two other Australians, Alistair Presnell (67) and Matt Jones (68) on 15- under par.
"It's pretty nice. This is the one we all want to win as Australians," The world No. 43, Ogilvy told ABC Sports on Sunday.
"I've been close at this one before so to come up here with a little bit of comfort over the last few holes is pretty nice.
"One of the goals we all have as a kid is to win this tournament."
It was Ogilvy's second win in his home country as a professional, following the 2008 Australian PGA Championship, and ninth tournament victory in total.
On Sunday's game, another U.S. Open champion, Michael Campbell of New Zealand, recorded his best finish in over two years with a 70 to share 12th place on seven under.
Australian Greg Norman, who has won this event five times, signed for a 72 to share 32nd spot on three under par with the defending champion, Adam Scott, who shot a 71.
The Australian Open is one of the principal annual golf tournaments on the PGA Tour of Australasia, and also the OneAsia Tour since its formation in 2009.
