　　8.at an end 结束；终结

　　①The meeting was nearly at an end when I got to the meeting room.

　　我到达会议室时，会议快要结束了。

　　②Our hunt for a cheaper but larger house is at last at an end.

　　我们想寻找一幢便宜些但要大些的房子的事终于有了结果。

　　【关键一点】　at an end在句中多在be后作表语。

　　(1)at the end of　在……尽头/末端(指时间或空间的一个终点)

　　by the end of

　　到……结束时；到……时候为止 (常与完成时态连用)

　　in the end
