BEIJING, March 1 -- Zhejiang Chouzhou smashed Shanghai Sharks 131-101 in the 41st round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Friday, although former NBA player Jimmer Fredette scored 34 points for the Shanghai team.
Zhejiang grabbed a 18-9 lead after Marcus Denmon and Cheng Shuai each hit a three-pointer at the beginning of the game. Shanghai launched a 8-0 run, but still falling 11 points behind as the first quarter ended.
With five fouls and low offensive efficiency, Shanghai only narrowed the gap to nine points in the second quarter.
Liu Zeyi contributed 10 points for Zhejiang in the third quarter and helped the home team enlarge the lead to 22 points.
The game went into garbage time in the early of the last quarter, as Shanghai failed to fight back.
Denmon had a game-high 51 points for Zhejiang, Zhu Xuhang added 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Liu Zeyi pocketed 20 points.
In Shanghai's side, Argentinean Luis Scola collected 17 points and 15 rebounds, Cai Liang scored 13 points and Zhang Zhaoxu grabbed 10 points.
In another match played on Friday, Guangzhou Long Lions beat Qingdao Eagles 119-109, although former NBA player Jonathan Gibson got a game-high 40 points for Qingdao.
Jiangsu Dragons crushed Jilin Northeast Tigers 117-90 as Miroslav Radulica and Donald Sloan combined for 52 points for Jiangsu.
