Fury admitted to setting fire to the USS Miami, a nuclear sub, in May 2017 while it was in dry dock. He was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison in March and ordered to pay $400 million in restitution -- roughly the cost of the damage.

"The reason he set the fire was in order to get out of work," his 7-page affidavit reads. Fury claimed that a text message conversation with his ex-girlfriend made him anxious because he was trying to "convince her that the guy she started seeing was not just a friend like she had been claiming".
