Robert Burns, a famous Scottish poet, was born into a poor farmer’s family. Although he only received two and a half years’ schooling , he managed to read a large number of poems and novels in his spare time. His first collection of poems was completed in 1786. Once published, it attracted the attention of readers and poets because of its simple style. And soon Burns’ works stood out among other Scottish poems at that time. Despite his short life, he wrote many poems and contributed greatly to the development of English literature. His poem, A Red, Red Rose, has been translated into many languages and is liked by people throughout the world
