国际英语资讯:Japans ruling LDP pushes ahead constitutional revision amid opposition
Meanwhile, the LDP's constitutional revision moves have been firmly opposed by some opposition parties including the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDPJ) and the Japanese Communist Party, for "opening the way for Japan's unlimited use of force."
The general public is also divided over changing Article 9, as many believe that the war-renouncing article has enabled Japan to avoid conflicts and to have peaceful development over the past seven decades.
Some 40,000 people gathered outside the parliament building in Tokyo on Nov. 3 to protest against Abe's attempts to amend the pacifist constitution on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the promulgation of the constitution.
