kowtow这个词用的很有意思,是中国“磕头”音译过来的,根据dictionary.com的解释,名词磕头,动词给某人磕头,引申义即对某人惟命是从、卑躬屈膝。

这个词出自5月6日Business栏目的《Parks of recreation》。这篇文章主要关注火爆的主题公园投资热潮。索尼、派拉蒙(Paramount)、迪士尼等公司纷纷投资建造主题公园,想从日益壮大的中产阶级手中分得一杯羹。但是文章指出,各方还是要小心经济衰退对融资造成的冲击。文章在讲到主题公园在亚洲的发展现状时写道:
