While Huawei is the world’s second-largest provider of telecom equipment after Sweden’s Ericsson, security concerns stemming from allegations that the company has ties to China’s military have stymied its access to big contracts in the U.S. Huawei has repeatedly denied having connections to the military.

A report by the committee released Monday says that as Chinese companies, the firms would be required to comply with any Chinese government request for access to their systems.
