国际英语资讯:South Korea welcomes top DPRK leaders New Year address
People in South Korea and the DPRK have been banned from exchanging letters and visiting each other since the 1950-1953 Korean War ended in an armistice. The peninsula is technically in a state of war since then.
Meanwhile, South Korea's ruling Democratic Party also hailed the DPRK leader's address, saying Kim's offer to talk with South Korea and send the DPRK delegation to the South Korea-hosted winter Olympics was positive.
The ruling party called on the South Korean government to have a ministerial-level dialogue with the DPRK side discussing comprehensive ways to enhance relations between the two Koreas.
