习近平迈步上前，仔细整理花篮缎带。接着，习近平等党和国家领导人缓步绕行，瞻仰人民英雄纪念碑。
Children and other attendees also laid flowers at the foot of the monument.
少年儿童和各界群众代表也依次走到纪念碑前，献上手中鲜花。
The ceremony was presided over by Cai Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.
敬献花篮仪式由中共中央政治局委员、北京市委书记蔡奇主持。
The foundation stone of the Monument to the People's Heroes was laid on Sept 30, 1949. In 2017, China's top legislature approved Sept 30 as Martyrs' Day to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives for national independence and prosperity.
70年前的9月30日，人民英雄纪念碑在天安门广场奠基。2017年，全国人大常委会通过决定，将9月30日设立为“烈士纪念日”。
Before attending the event, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng and Wang Qishan visited the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall. They made three bows toward Mao's seated statue and paid respect to the remains of Mao.
敬献花篮仪式前，习近平、李克强、栗战书、汪洋、王沪宁、赵乐际、韩正、王岐山等领导同志来到毛主席纪念堂。习近平等向毛泽东同志坐像三鞠躬，随后来到瞻仰厅，瞻仰毛泽东同志遗容。
