When we walk into Buddhist temples, we can see the image of lotus everywhere. Sakyamuni, the Buddha in the Mahavira hall, sits upright on the lotus throne. He is kind-hearted and has low eyes. Amitabha and Avalokitesvara, the first of the "three saints of the west", are also sitting on the lotus. Some of the other Bodhisattvas hold the lotus in their hands, some pedal the lotus, or make a lotus gesture, or throw the lotus (such as the heavenly daughter) to the world. On the walls, caissons, railings, divine accounts, table walls, sachets, and worship mats of temples, various kinds of lotus patterns are also carved, drawn, or sewed everywhere. It can be seen how close the relationship between lotus and Buddhism is.
The close relationship between lotus and Buddhism is also reflected in the fact that Buddhism compares many beautiful and holy things with lotus as a metaphor and lotus as a representative. In the Buddhist story, Sakyamuni's mother has a pair of beautiful and bright big eyes like lotus. When the Buddha was born, there were eight auspicious forms in the Imperial Palace, the most important of which was the white lotus which suddenly grew up like a wheel in the pool. When Buddha was born, he radiated thousands of golden lights on the root of his tongue. Each golden light turned into a thousand leaves white lotus. In each lotus, there was a little bodhisattva with crossed feet and upward feet.
