David Dekema, marketing director at Snowshoe Mountain Resort, in Snowshoe, W.Va., said the storm, which dropped more than two feet of snow, has sparked a flurry of bookings at the 4,800-foot-high mountain. He said he hoped to open by Thanksgiving. Last year's unseasonably warm winter had twice delayed the opening and cut the season short by a week.
'We love the snow,' he said. 'This has definitely been a reminder that winter is coming, and it could be a good one.'
